Shawna is an exceptional public servant with a remarkable 15-year track record as a federal worker in probation/parole and youth group homes. Her academic background is just as impressive as a proud graduate of Kentucky State University, an HBCU located in Frankfort, KY. Shawna is a distinguished leader in her community, holding multiple board positions, including Your Infinite Paths Foundation, the Southern Maryland Sierra Club, and Parks and Recreation for the Town of La Plata. Notably, she is the founder of Charles County Moms of Color, the co-founder of Maryland Moms of Color, and a founding member of Charles County Rise. As a parent voice on the Charles County Public Schools Educational Equity Task Force, Shawna is dedicated to ensuring that every child receives equal educational opportunities. Above all, Shawna is a devoted mother and wife of a retired Army Veteran who sets an inspiring example of excellence for everyone around her.

Erica has actively contributed to Charles County Public Schools as an educational advocate, substitute teacher, and member of the Educational Equity Task Force. Her professional experience as a Human Resource Manager in corporate and non-profit sectors has polished her communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.

Ayana’s commitment to service is evidenced by her tenure as secretary of Southern Maryland Community Advocates, Board member of Worthington Homeowners Association, vigorous work towards impactful legislative changes, years of community volunteerism, and most recently as a member of the advisory board for the Charles County Business Development Loan Fund for Women, Minorities and Veterans.
Ayana has a bachelor’s degree from Howard University, a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University, and works in the telecommunications field supporting federal government contracts. She has resided in Charles County for 20 years and continues to be profoundly devoted to bringing about positive community changes.
